Interment with military honors will follow at Sunset View Cemetery in Jonesville The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 5-8 P.M. at the Jonesville First Presbyterian Church with Rev. A celebration of life for Ralph "Monty" Powers will be held Friday, Jat 2:00 P.M. Monty was preceded in death by his parents his first wife, Betty daughter, Mary Powers sister, Mary Alice Pope and two brothers, Harlow and Donald Powers. Ward (Lauren) Powers of Naples, Florida and John (Karin) Powers of Seattle, Washington. In addition to his wife, Margaret Powers, Monty is survived by five children, Ruth Powers of Austin, Texas, Paul (Christina) Powers of Allen, Ron (Mary) Coon of Traverse City, Charles Coon of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Robin (John) Gissal of South Haven 17 grandchildren 29 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Dr. He enjoyed all aspects of photography and collecting Jonesville and Hillsdale County history. Monty was a volunteer fireman for the Jonesville Fire Department for 53 years, Boy Scout Master for 20 years, Jonesville District Library volunteer and Hillsdale County Red Cross chairman for many years. He was a member of the Jonesville First Presbyterian Church and he also attended College Baptist Church with his wife, Margaret. Together with his family, Monty co-owned and operated Powers Clothing in Jonesville for 45 years until his retirement in 1995. He proudly served his country as a P-38 Lightning pilot in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. Monty graduated from Jonesville High School and he received a Bachelor's Degree from Albion College and a Master's Degree from University of Michigan. He later married Margaret Johnson Coon on Decemand she survives. Monty married Eleanor "Betty" Bean in 1947 and she preceded him in death in 1989. He was born Novemin Jonesville to Ralph and Marjorie (Dingfelder) Powers. Ralph Monroe "Monty" Powers Jr., age 94, of Jonesville, passed away Monday, Jsurrounded by his family at Masonville Place Assisted Living in Coldwater. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Hillsdale County, Jonesville District Library or Jonesville First Presbyterian Church. at Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville and on Friday from 1:00 P.M.
